The commissioner said that the “exceptional” public interest in the advice outweighed legal privilege. The First Minister has repeatedly said she wants to hold a second referendum next year after passing a referendum bill in Scottish Parliament.

Nicola Sturgeon will face a grilling from MSPs this afternoon after being humiliated by an order to publish details of legal advice she received over a potential second referendum on Scottish independence
The Scottish government had previously refused to make the advice public arguing that it would breach legal professional privilege.
Ms Sturgeon has now been given a deadline of June 10 to publish parts of the advice by Scotland’s information commissioner.
