1-in-3 Brits think the Queen should retire according to latest bombshell study

A new bombshell study has revealed that one in four Brits think that the Queen should retire.

The YouGov survey suggested that there may have been a distinct shift in public opinion on whether the monarch should remain as head of the state for the rest of her life.

The majority of Brits previously believed that Her Majesty should continue to reign until her death.

However, the poll carried out for Times Radio now found that one-third of you now believe that it's time for the crown to be passed on to her son, Prince Charles.

The shift comes after the 96-year-old was forced to miss a number of in-person events due to mobility issues recently.

This includes missing the opening of Parliament on Tuesday for the first time since 1963 due to “episodic mobility problems”, as reported by the Independent.

Instead, Prince Charles read the Queen’s Speech for the first time in a historic, unprecedented move which was been interpreted as a major shift in his responsibilities.

However, the Queen did make her first public appearance since March on Friday at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, where she appeared to be in good spirits.

The Queen is also expected to miss the royal garden party events at Buckingham Palace, which are taking place again for the first time since 2019.

The UK is gearing up to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on the weekend of June 2 June, marking her 70-year reign.

The Queen is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee this year with a four-day bank holiday weekend in June that will see a packed schedule of events taking place.
