Asda face mum’s fury after finding fish eggs inside son’s frozen fish fingers

A Brit mum is fuming after finding fish eggs inside her toddler's frozen fish fingers from ASDA.

Caitlyn Lawton was disgusted after making the unpleasant discovery in the supermarket's new ‘Just Essentials’ range.

The 19-year-old purchased the box of 10 fish fingers from the retailer’s Blyth store in Northumberland.

Caitlyn was about to serve the product up to her two-year-old son, Austin when she notice something wasn’t quite right.

The young mum from Cramlington told the Chronicle: "It was disgusting. I had cooked the fish fingers and my partner got the tray out, cut them up and put them on the windowsill to cool down.

"I got the tray out to give them to him and noticed all these little balls and thought it wasn't right.

"I cut them up again and realised it was lots of fish eggs."

Luckily Caitlyn spotted the grim addition before the tyke took a bite.

But the mum says the unpleasant experience has been enough to put her off ever returning to the supermarket.

She added: "I have really bad health anxiety and this would have pushed me over the edge. If he had ate them I would probably have taken him to hospital.

"I'm never going to shop there again. I do my shopping on a Friday and went to a different shop."

It comes after the Mirror reported a mum from Middlesbrough found fish eggs in fish fingers she was going to feed her two-year-old.

An ASDA spokesman said: "Unfortunately the nature of using fish means that there is always a small risk of roe making its way into the final product.

"We have processes in place throughout the supply chain from catch to processing, including avoiding times of the year when this is more likely to occur.

"We’ve contacted Ms Lawton and offered her a full refund as well as a gesture of goodwill, and we apologise again for any inconvenience this may have caused her."

Recently another mum was also left terrified after finding “worms” inside the Birds Eye fish fingers she was about to feed to her daughter.

The mum told the Daily Star, her two-year-old was moments away from eating the skin-crawling discovery.

The fish fingers were purchased from ASDA in Skelton, North Yorkshire.
