Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the tough controls must relax, confirming: “It’s time to give Australians their lives back.”

Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra are in lockdown at present.

From November people will be eligible to travel when their state’s vaccination rate hits 80 percent.

Travel would not immediately be open to foreigners, but the government said it was working “towards welcoming tourists back to our shores”.
