Boy, 11, goes missing during Storm Dennis sparking major search

A major search has been launched for an 11-year-old boy who has gone missing overnight during Storm Dennis’s horrific weather conditions.

Jacob Newton was last seen in Dundee, Scotland at 9.30pm and police say he was “not dressed appropriately" to spend the night outside during the stormy weather.

Jacob is described as white, around 5 ft, with short dark hair which is cropped at the sides and slightly longer on top.

When last seen, he was wearing a navy Stone Island jacket, black jogging bottoms, and black and grey Nike Air Max trainers.

Police Scotland's Inspector Mahboob Ahmad said: "We are very concerned for Jacob's safety and wellbeing – as are Jacob's family and friends, understandably.

"He is an 11-year-old boy and has not been seen since 9.30pm last night.

"The weather conditions are very poor and he is not dressed appropriately.

"I would urge anyone who has information on Jacob's whereabouts to contact Police Scotland immediately.

"If Jacob is reading this message, I would ask him to please contact his family, friends or the police and let us know that he is safe and well."

Anyone with information that could help us find Jacob should call police on 101, quoting reference number 4392 of 15 February.

The boy's disappearance comes as Storm Dennis continues to batter the UK with torrential rain and gale-force winds.

Some areas have been left submerged in flood water with more than 500 alerts and warnings in place for the country.
