A bride-to-be has been attacked on her hen-do by a crazed attacker who repeatedly stabbed the woman's inflatable penis costume, with a "sharp implement".

Laura Inglis was celebrating her engagement with friends in East Refnrewshire, Scotland, ahead of her marriage to Jill Hutchinson when she was attacked by the assailant.

Ronald McKinnon, 27, struck Laura, a former striker with Bishopton Ladies, while she celebrated her engagement, with the 23-year-old repeatedly stabbed in her pink inflatable penis outfit.

A shaken Laura is said to have called police and reported the incident, with McKinnon, from Eaglesham, landing himself in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court.

The 27-year-old was charged with possessing a knife in public and culpable and reckless conduct by stabbing Laura's costume.

McKinnon pleaded guilty to the culpable and reckless conduct charge last month in relation to the stabbing, which took place on a night out last June.

Prosecutors amended the charge to say that McKinnon had in fact used "a sharp implement" rather than a knife to stab the costume and his not guilty plea was accepted to the knife possession charge.

Sentencing was adjourned for reports and McKinnon was due to return to the dock this week, but Daily Record reported he did not attend the court.

Despite not attending, McKinnon's case has been extended by a month to give him another chance to attend his trial.

Laura had been part of the league champions team Bishopton Ladies, with a post from the Bishopton Ladies' social media post saying: "Laura Inglis leaves Bishopton FC ladies after five years with the club, to start her new life in American with Jill.

"In her time with Bishopton she has become a 2x League Champion & SWF League Cup Winner.

"She was part of the 2021 team which went the entire season undefeated and won a League & Cup Double."
