Denver weather: Late-day rain may turn into overnight snow Saturday

Denver’s weather should be pleasant Saturday while snow is expected in the high country.

The high temperature in Denver on Saturday will hit 49 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Clouds will increase this afternoon, bringing a slight chance for rain and snow after 5 p.m. Winds out of the southwest will gust to 15 mph and the chance for daytime precipitation is 10%.

In the metro area Saturday night snow is likely, mainly before 11p.m., the weather service said. The overnight low temperature will drop to 21 degrees under cloudy skies. The chance for overnight precipitation is 60%,t and most areas will receive between 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation. Some metro areas south and southeast of Denver will get up to 4 inches of new snow overnight Saturday.

In the mountains Saturday, daytime snowfall will increase during the afternoon and evening, with up to 10 inches of snow expected in some areas of the northern and central ranges.

On Sunday in Denver the weather will be breezy, with gusts up to 28 mph and a high temperature of 39 degrees, the weather service said. Monday’s high in Denver will climb to 53 degrees under sunny skies.
