Princess Eugenie has been touted as a potential fixer of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's frosty relations with the rest of the royal family.
The Princess of York and daughter of Prince Andrew has always got on well with Harry, who she considers a close cousin.
That may have contributed to tensions with Meghan, who sister Beatrice clashed with in June after announcing her pregnancy on the day of the Sussexes' anniversary.
Eugenie herself was talked of as a "go-between" with the contentious exiled couple, reconciling Harry and Meghan with their fraught family.
That now seems to be truer than ever, with the princess acting as Harry's point of contact in the UK, the Telegraph reported.
Royal journalist Eleanor Steafel noted Eugenie was a big part of Harry and Meghan getting together in the first place – having known both the duke and duchess separately before their courting.
Meghan told Oprah earlier this year: “Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable…"
"We're friends with them as a couple.”
And one insider told Steafel: “Eugenie knows them better than any of the Royals in a way.
“She was there from the beginning.”

Harry's difficult UK visits of late – first to attend grandfather Prince Philip's funeral, then to unveil a statue of his mother – were made much easier by his close bond with Eugenie.
The embattled prince stayed at Frogmore Cottage, his former residence now lived in by Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank.
A Sussexes source told People magazine this week: "Frogmore Cottage continues to be the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' residence in the UK, and they are delighted to be able to open up their home to Princess Eugenie and Jack as they start their own family."
When news of Harry and Meghan's courtship began in 2016 it was Eugenie and Jack who were with them on holiday in Toronto.
Meghan Markle dealt new blow as birthday poem 'shared only 200 times' despite her plea
The two couples went on double dates in Toronto and London – and are said to be a key force behind keeping the couple's relationship a secret.
Brooksbank hit the headlines earlier this week after being photographed with bikini-clad models on a yacht.
Sarah Ferguson defended Brooksbank as a "brilliant father" who was "just doing his job" as the ambassador of a tequila firm.
It's not known what Eugenie thinks of the situation.
But making peace between the controversial Sussexes and the rest of the royals may be the useful distraction she needs.
Events this week – and those surrounding her father for the past two years – have made clear that when it comes to soap opera, the UK-based royals still pack a punch.
