Horrifying moment man rams moped into 67-year-old woman before driving off

Terrifying CCTV footage has emerged of a moped driver ramming into a woman on a pavement in broad daylight.

The incident took place in the town centre of Nelson, Lancs. on Thursday.

Surveillance footage outside a building shows a 67-year-old woman chatting with a man before the biker drives past.

He narrowly escapes when the suspect, who wears a black T-shirt and grey joggers, speeds past him by inches and moves out of camera shot.

A few seconds later, he returns and runs his moped straight into the woman, hitting her leg.

The pensioner takes a step back and instantly hits him with her handbag before various words are exchanged and the man drives off.

The woman's family released the security camera footage in a bid to appeal for more information to identify the man, reported Lancashire Live.

They believe he was not known to any members of the family.

The woman's daughter said: "Anybody know this idiot on a moped who just tried running my 67-year-old mother over in Nelson town centre? Any names would be appreciated. Thanks in advance."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.

In a completely separate incident from Poulton, a pensioner was attacked during an aggravated burglary in Stanley Avenue.

The victim, a man in his 90s, had been at home when the offender, wearing a ski mask, entered the property demanding money.

The offender punched the victim, knocking him to the floor, before stabbing the man in the neck and arm, causing minor injuries.

Lancashire Police are now appealing for information and have asked the public to come forward if they witnessed the crime.
