A 59-year-old man will be charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Westminster Saturday, according to Westminster police.
The stabbing happened at about 1:15 p.m. at a home at 3957 W. 118th Place, police said in a release. The victim, a male whose name and age have not been released, was found wounded on the front porch of the home and taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police surrounded the home, and Kenneth Sargent, who is charged with the killing, hid inside for about seven hours before he surrendered and was arrested around 8 p.m.
Police did not release any information about the motive for the attack and it was not clear whether Sargent knew the victim or lived in the home. Police did not immediately return a request for more information.
Court records show Sargent was arrested once before in Colorado, for misdemeanor disorderly conduct in 2019. The charge was dismissed after Sargent met conditions set by the court, according to the records.
