Man shoots married cousin before killing himself because he was in love with her

A woman is desperately fighting for her life after being shot by her cousin who was reportedly in love with her.

The horrifying incident took place in Devkinandanpura village, in Jaipur, India, on Sunday, January 24.

After professing his love for the married woman, the man shot himself dead.

According to The Times of India, the man has been identified as Ghanshyam Meena, who went to visit his married cousin Priyanka, 22, at 7.45 pm on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses claim they were speaking to each other when all of sudden, Ghanshyam took out a pistol and shot her point-blank in the head.

After shooting at her, he blasted himself and died instantly, according to local reports.

Priyanka is said to have been rushed to a private hospital in Pratap Nagar where she is said to be in a critical condition and on ventilator support. It is reported that she will have surgery on Monday.

Senior police officers, including deputy commissioner of police (south) Avnish Sharma, rushed to the scene with a Forensic Science Laboratory team.
