Meghan Markle is seen crying in the new trailer for her and Prince Harry's Netflix documentary, before an unsubtle cut to an image of Kate Middleton looking "utterly evil" according to royal fans.

Today (Thursday, December 1) the streaming giant released the trailer for "Harry & Meghan", with the hotly anticipated doc "coming soon".

The short video is a mixture of still images of the Sussexes and excerpts from interviews, but one part in particular has royal fans talking.

One black and white still shows Meghan with her head in her hands, appearing to cry, as Harry's voice can be heard saying: "No one sees what happens behind closed doors."

The video then cuts to an image of Kate Middleton looking sternly at the camera.

The image of Kate is from the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in 2019. Meghan appears sitting behind her.

It seems to be a reference to the alleged row between the sisters-in-law ahead of Meghan and Harry's wedding in 2018.

They were said to have fallen out at a dress fitting for the flower girls, with reports at the time claiming Kate was left in tears. Meghan then told Oprah in her tell-all interview that it was she who was left in tears.

Meghan said: "A few days before the wedding she was upset about something – it made me cry.

"It really hurt my feelings. I thought in the context of everything that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, it didn’t make sense, not to be supportive, what with everything that was going on with my dad and everything

"It wasn’t a confrontation…she apologized, and I have forgiven her. What was hard to get over was something that I didn’t do, but happened to me."

Royal fans have been busy reacting the trailer on Twitter, with the image of Kate causing quite the stir.

Sharing the image of Kate, one wrote: "I am sorry but they knew what they were doing by putting this here."

Another said: "Okay, so I watched the trailer for the Harry & Meghan Netflix show, couldn't help myself.

"The best thing about it is a shot of Kate Wales looking utterly evil – they're on the absolute wind-up and it's hilarious. Added to Watch List."

A third wrote: "Omg that photo of Kate glaring into the camera from the Commonwealth ceremony."
