Melania and Donald Trump ‘living separate lives and have done for many years’

Melania and Donald Trump may have led separate lives "for many years now", a relationship expert believes.

The Trumps have moved back to Donald's Mar-a-Lago resort in southern Florida after leaving the White House on January 20, the same day as current US President Joe Biden was inaugurated.

Rumours of the Trumps divorcing have been circulating for some time, with reports suggesting Melania wants to set up an office separate from Donald's now they have left the White House.

Melania is also reported to have not attended a recent Super Bowl party that her husband went to – which may be a sign the couple could split up.

And now, relationship experts have said they believe Melania and Donald could be living separate lives – with Mrs Trump seeing her official public role as the wife over as she starts to carve out the "life she wants".

Pascale Lane, a Therapeutic Relationship and Life Coach, the founder of the Surviving to Thriving programme and author of How to be Happy in Life and Love: A guide to living the life you Deserve, believes this could be a sign the couple could soon split.

She told the Daily Star: "The marriage of Donald and Melania Trump is one which has been widely documented over the years and has been the source of many debates. Is she in-it just for the money or is there a connection there which we are not privy to?

  • Melania Trump's Covid recovery took 'long time' after refusing Donald's favoured method

"Ever since his inauguration back in January 2017, speculation has been rife about the state of their marriage and whether this is one of business or love.

"Melania certainly has had her fair share of unhappy looking pictures and given the press coverage of her husband's attitude towards women, (let alone everything else), it's little wonder she is snapped looking underwhelmed."

She added: "My guess would be that divorcing a man like Donald Trump would leave Melania without the opulent lifestyle she is accustomed to. Let's not forget that she married this man in 2005; their history goes considerably further back than his presidency.

  • Melania Trump's latest Donald 'snub' is 'probable' sign of 'imminent divorce'

"There could well be an opportunity now for her to say she has 'done her bit' but I suspect Melania is one lady who does her own thing in her own way, regardless of the status of her husband. I would presume they have led separate lives for many years now.

"Maybe the question we should be asking is 'will they legally separate or maintain the status quo as it is'?"

Emma Davey, Relationship Expert and Founder of MyTraumaTherapy.co.uk, says the couple may start to live "very separate live in the near future"

She told Daily Star: “Most people understand that being in a relationship where you’re not happy, where you have no control, is a very lonely place to be.

"We have all seen the way Donald Trump has addressed the world with his one-sided views and questionable decisions. He shows many narcissistic traits, such as always wanting to be in control, having a very God-like persona, always having to be right and not listening to the opinions of others – even when they’re leading experts.

“Being in a relationship with someone who has narcissistic traits like this can be very exhausting and has a huge impact on your mental and physical health. While no one knows what’s gone on in their relationship, other than the couple, the time may have come for Melania to take back control and start living the life she wants.

"We might start to see the pair living very separate lives in the near future.”

Meanwhile, Melania, who married Trump in 2005, has previous said she has "a great relationship" with Donald, who is 24 years her senior.

He has insisted that they never argue.

Such was the intensity of the divorce speculation last year, one of Melania's pals spoke out and blasted the suggestion as "pathetic".
