Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries when he hits moose on Guanella Pass roadway.
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday when the rider hit a moose on Guanella Pass, the moose died in the crash.
The incident happened at about 6:10 p.m. on Park County Road 62 on the Grant side of the pass, said Sgt. Troy Kessler, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
The motorcyclist, identified as Adam Lamb, 44, of Colorado Springs, was southbound on CR 62 riding a 2016 KTM, when he hit the moose in the roadway, Kessler said. The motorcycle then hit a roadside post and Lamb was thrown from the enduro dirt bike. He suffered serious injuries including broken arms.
Investigators suspect that alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the crash, Kessler said. An investigation is ongoing.
