A stretch of Interstate 25 at County Line Road along Douglas and El Paso counties will close for several nights next week for bridge demolition.
Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured around the closure points at the County Line Road Interchange as a safety precaution for demolition of the County Line Road Bridge on Monument Hill, Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release.
The work is part of the ongoing I-25 South Gap project, an 18-mile construction zone between Monument and Castle Rock.
On Tuesday both northbound and southbound lanes will close at 8 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday, CDOT said.
On Wednesday, northbound lanes will close at 6 p.m. and reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday. Southbound lanes will close at 7 p.m. Wednesday and reopen at noon Thursday.
On Thursday and Friday, northbound lanes will close at 6 p.m. and reopen the following day at 7 a.m., CDOT said. Southbound lanes will close at 7 p.m. and reopen at 8 a.m. the following day.
Demolition work also requires a closure of County Line Road at I-25, requiring drivers to use the Colorado 105 interchange and Monument Hill Road to access areas east and west of the interstate. Drivers should expect delays in the area.
At the conclusion of these extended closures, crews will require various closures of the County Line Road Bridge and I-25 for overhead bridge work, such as girder sets and deck pours. In addition, a six-week closure of the northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps at the County Line Road Bridge is required to reconstruct the ramps into a new alignment.
Vehicle length restrictions begin July 2
Due to ongoing County Line Road bridge construction, left turns will be restricted for vehicles over 35 feet long: No left turns on the bridge from northbound I-25 to westbound County Line/Palmer Divide Road. No left turns on the bridge from southbound I-25 to eastbound County Line/Palmer Divide Road.
These restrictions are expected to remain in effect throughout bridge construction for the safety of crews and the traveling public, CDOT said in a news release. Driver can use Colorado 105 exit 161.
