Prince William has said his daughter Charlotte speaks her own mind and is “growing up fast”.
William said that the princess, who recently enjoyed her sixth birthday party along with another family, tells people she’s 16.
Speaking on a visit to an engineering firm in the Midlands, William said: “She had a lovely day thank you.
“Last year it was her birthday in lockdown but this year we were able to have one other family over. They grow up fast, it was great fun.
He added: “If you ask her she says she’s 16, Charlotte says, ‘I’m six now, I’ll do what I want’.”
Government guidelines allow two households to gather outside, meaning the Cambridges would have been allowed to host another family in their garden at Kensington Palace.
A photo of a smiling Charlotte taken by her mum the Duchess of Cambridge was released to mark her sixth birthday on Sunday.
She was wearing a blue short-sleeved dress with a pink floral design made by clothing brand Rachel Riley.
The snap was not shared though on the Cambridges’ social media as William said that they were joining the sporting world in a four-day blackout with no online content to show that abuse is not acceptable.

During William's visit to the Midlands he also met Aston Villa players at the team's new state-of-the-art high performance centre.
He has supported the Birmingham-based team since childhood and was seen chatting and laughing with players at the training ground in Warwickshire.
