Vladimir Putin has escalated nuclear war tensions once again by saying that “all options are on the table.”

The Russian President brought up memories of the USA’s atomic bomb uses on Japan in an unsubtle muscle flex over eastern Ukraine.

Putin reportedly said those bombs proved that you “don’t need to attack the major cities in order to win,” while speaking over the phone with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, a French government source said Putin is hot on the argument that despite so many peoples’ best efforts to avoid such an attack, “all options are on the table.”

The unapologetically chilling words from the authoritarian leader come as Russia reportedly plans to pull out its troops from parts of the Kherson region in southern Ukraine as defending forces make inroads into the city and the surrounding area.

Locals living in the region have been told they must leave by Russia, as both sides claim the other side could consider using a bomb on the city.

Russia claims that Ukraine wants to use a dirty bomb on its own territory that would look like a Russian weapon and could spark escalation from the west.

The news comes as Russian forces face disastrous defeats across the warzone.

Reports have begun to come in of the ‘special operation's’ failed attempt in the past weeks to capture the town of Pavlivka in Donetsk, Eastern Ukraine.

Russia’s 155th Marine Brigade is understood to have suffered massive losses in what has been described as a “pointless” operation.

A private letter to the Russian Ministry of Defence, according to the Express, reads: "General Muradov has thrown us into an incomprehensible offensive in order for Muradov to earn bonuses, and to be promised a hero of Russia.

"We lost 300 people killed, wounded, and missing in four days. The command of the district hid this.

"How long will General Muradov and Akhmedov plan military operations? They call people meat."
