Two killed and three badly hurt after triple car smash during police chase

Two men have died and three more are hurt after a horror three-car road smash following a police pursuit.

The collision came after a speeding car crashed into two others in Salford, Greater Manchester.

It followed a police pursuit, Greater Manchester Police said.

Dramatic images from the aftermath show a silver, blue and black vehicle all damaged.

Debris can be seen scattered across the floor following the accident, which happened shortly before midnight.

Officers said there were no arrests, and that the two men who died were in the car that was being pursued.

They were pronounced dead shortly after the collision.

One man and two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In a statement, the force said: "At around 11.40pm on Wednesday 23 September 2020, police observed a vehicle being driven at speed on Frederick Road, Salford.

"Officers initiated a pursuit and the vehicle in question collided with two third party vehicles.

"Two men from the vehicle in question were sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"One man and two women from a third party vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"No arrests have been made.

"In line with normal procedure, this incident has been referred to GMP's Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC."

Images also show a group of police officers gathering at the scene, in Frederick Road.
