Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Elle Edwards, 26, following the fatal shooting at the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey Village on Christmas Eve.

Four other people were injured during the shooting which took place at the Merseyside-based pub on December 24, with one 28-year-old man in hospital and continuing to receive medical treatment.

A 30-year-old man from Tranmere has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Detectives have also arrested a 19-year-old woman from Rock Ferry on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, with the two suspects taken into custody where they will be questioned by detectives.

Investigations into the murder of the 26-year-old beautician are ongoing and police are still appealing for any information over the shooting.

A statement released by Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs said: "We have made two arrests in connection with this cold-blooded shooting.

"Elle's family are still having to come to terms with her tragic loss, and our specially trained family liaison officers are supporting them.

"We will not rest until we bring those responsible to justice and I would appeal to anyone who has information to contact us."

Detective Superintendent Coombs added: "I would urge people who were in the Lighthouse Inn at the time of the incident, or anyone who has mobile or CCTV footage of what happened to contact us as a matter of urgency as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.

"We are also appealing to motorists and residents in the area, who may have captured anything on Dashcam or CCTV to contact us and every bit of evidence is crucial to the investigation."

Tributes have since been paid to the 26-year-old, who was tragically shot and killed on Christmas Eve.

Among tributes from friends and colleagues of Edwards were her parents, who praised the "happiness" she brought them.

One tribute from the parents of Elle read: "To my beautiful Elle. You are the light of my life, you will never be gone, mum, dad xxxxxx."

Another left in a floral tribute piece read: "Special Daughter. The happiness you brought in your own special way, will be remembered with love each and every day."

A flood of tributes were also seen from friends and colleagues of Elle, with one writing: "Rest in perfect peace my beautiful els bels I can’t physically cope with this but your life will forever leave a imprint on mine."

Flowers, tributes and floral arrangements were left in tribute to Elle.
